The free problem gambling awareness course delivers critical education for support of individuals impacted by problem gambling. The two-part course provides training related to gambling addiction, recovery options and tools and resources to help others.


The course features gambling addiction expert, Jody Bechtold, who brings 30 years of experience to the field of gambling addiction.

What does the training entail?

The training consists of two parts

Part 1 six hours of online training, to be completed at your own pace*

Part 2 a follow-up interview session at a date, time and location (online or in person) to be determined. You will meet with a MNAPG staff member to further assess community needs and priorities around problem gambling.

Trainer

Jody Bechtold of The Better Institute. Jody is a professional coach, gambling addiction expert, international speaker and trainer. Jody has over 30 years of experience in the field.

You will learn:

  • Who is at risk for gambling disorder.
  • The impacts on the family from gambling disorders.
  • The often-overlapping occurrence of mental health issues, substance abuse and suicide.
  • The role of finances in gambling disorders.
  • The nature of gambling-motivated crime.
  • Resources available for recovery and healing.
